Postcard Photo Contest

Screen shot 2013-07-30 at 11.34.31 PM In the last couple months I pre-released a new track “Our Last Song” by Postcard to the people who requested it on facebook or twitter. If you were one of the recipients, you now have the chance to win the very first official “Dominique Fricot” T-Shirt.

The contest is easy. All you have to do is take a photo with the Postcard that you received (as Naphtali did in this picture to the right) and post it to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. (Bonus marks for those that post to all 3!).

Remember to tag me properly so that I’m alerted of your posting. For instagram and twitter: @dominiquefricot and for my artist profile on facebook: Dominique Fricot (like me on facebook here if you haven’t already).

If you already posted a photo of your postcard to one of the sites, rest easy, you’ve already entered in the contest. Just remember that I will be judging by my opinion of the best photo, so a touch up to your photo may be in order;) Be creative and know that I love a good caption.

Submissions are due next Sunday August 11th by 7 pm*. I will select and announce a winner at 6 PM PST the following day.

*I did have a few cases where the postcard I sent never arrived=( If this happened to you please message me at info@dominiquefricot.com and I will do my best to make all better and provide you with means to still take part in this contest if you wish to.

Good Luck!

Dom

*Please note the contest end date has been extended.

Where I Come From

Last week Daniel Chen posted this beautiful video of Vancouver caught in time-lapse photography. I am lucky enough to have my new track “Our Last Song” as the soundtrack to this stunning video.

When the video came out I was reminded of how gorgeous the city I’ve called home for the last 10 years is. This last weekend I returned to the Shuswap and visited some of my old haunts including my home town, Salmon Arm and was overcome with how beautiful it is in the summer and how lucky I’ve been to have lived in such glorious environments. Excuse my sappiness, but I had to proclaim it.

I also find myself wondering if that’s just how it is for most people and their home town. Is the feeling that there is no place like home a universal sensation? Or have I really had the luxury of living in the most beautiful place in the world my whole life?

March is Music Therapy Month

Some of you may recall that I was rallying the troops to donate their old and unused but still functioning iPods to Music Therapy programs back in October of last year. We’re opening the iPod Pharmacy again in an effort to collect some more this month. iPods and mp3 players are a very valuable tool for music therapists in their practice, and sadly there is often a shortage of funds to supply these therapists with the necessary tools in their practice.

Chris Brandt, a co founder of Music Heals, and I dropped by the Rush at Shaw cable last week to talk about the iPod Pharmacy and Music Therapy month.

Chords and Lyrics for Haunted by Love

I have some music videos on youtube. Underneath said youtube videos, people make comments.  I’ve been asked a couple times now to share the chords of my songs. I realized the other day that I could easily do it here. If you so desire you can play my songs too. Here are the chords and lyrics to my song “Haunted by Love”. If you have any trouble with the chart you can ask whatever questions you have in the comment section below this post.

Haunted by love

Music and lyrics by Dominique Fricot

W/ Capo 1st Fret
Play standard open chords as if capo was the nut and the 2nd fret was actually the 1st fret. Fingering for chords are listed below song.
*if playing on piano play a semi tone up i.e. Em=Fm, G=Ab, C=Db, Am=Bbm, Bm=Cm

Em                            G                       C
The corner of cambie and 16th the crossroads where we’d meet
Em                                              G                         C
You’d pull my suspenders to kiss me how you kissed me
Am                                                   C                                              Am                                    C
And i pray that you’re happy and perfectly healthy, I pray that you’re riding your horses

G                                                           C      Am                                C
The girl that I want more than anything is gone, I still see her everywhere I turn
