March is Music Therapy Month

Some of you may recall that I was rallying the troops to donate their old and unused but still functioning iPods to Music Therapy programs back in October of last year. We’re opening the iPod Pharmacy again in an effort to collect some more this month. iPods and mp3 players are a very valuable tool for music therapists in their practice, and sadly there is often a shortage of funds to supply these therapists with the necessary tools in their practice.

Chris Brandt, a co founder of Music Heals, and I dropped by the Rush at Shaw cable last week to talk about the iPod Pharmacy and Music Therapy month.

She stands in the glow of an upstairs light, And I wave but she closed the blinds

Chords and Lyrics for Haunted by Love

I have some music videos on youtube. Underneath said youtube videos, people make comments.  I’ve been asked a couple times now to share the chords of my songs. I realized the other day that I could easily do it here. If you so desire you can play my songs too. Here are the chords and lyrics to my song “Haunted by Love”. If you have any trouble with the chart you can ask whatever questions you have in the comment section below this post.

Haunted by love

Music and lyrics by Dominique Fricot

W/ Capo 1st Fret
Play standard open chords as if capo was the nut and the 2nd fret was actually the 1st fret. Fingering for chords are listed below song.
*if playing on piano play a semi tone up i.e. Em=Fm, G=Ab, C=Db, Am=Bbm, Bm=Cm

Em                            G                       C
The corner of cambie and 16th the crossroads where we’d meet
Em                                              G                         C
You’d pull my suspenders to kiss me how you kissed me
Am                                                   C                                              Am                                    C
And i pray that you’re happy and perfectly healthy, I pray that you’re riding your horses

G                                                                  C
Haunted by, haunted by, haunted by, haunted by love
G                                                           C      Am                                C
The girl that I want more than anything is gone, I still see her everywhere I turn
Am                                                                              C        Em               G          C
Cuz I’m haunted by, haunted by, haunted by, haunted by love.  The truth will set you free

Em           G           C
the pictures of when we thought we were happy are talking to me
Em        G                 C
Say “why can’t you leave it alone can’t you leave it alone for a few weeks, Are you too weak?”
Am                                                 C           Am                             C
But nobody’s happy and nobody’s healthy, and only the headless ride horses

G                                                                  C
You’re haunted by haunted by haunted by love
G                                                                                 C    Am                                   C
You wish you didn’t know what it meant to break your heart, I can recommend a place to run
Am                                                                                    C
When you’re haunted by, haunted by, haunted by, haunted by love

Bm                                              G                                Am                                    Em
I bet that you knew all along  cuz the bruises on my arms, told a little bit told a little bit more than i told
Bm                                                          G                       Am                                     Bm
We’ll never know where we could’ve gone  cuz the bruises on my arm, were just a little bit, just a little bit

Haunted by, haunted by, haunted by, haunted by love

Had a fantastic time playing at Lucky Bar in Victoria last week with Snoqualmie and Wand. There was an astounding amount of photographers in the room and I wanted to give them a each a shout out and share some of their work.

Thanks to all of you.  For those interested in seeing some of the shots from the night, check out the links beside the names.

Victoria Music Scene.com also came out and shot quite a few videos of songs from the night. You can view them all here. I’ve also included one of my favour moments from Lucky Bar, my cover of the Outfield’s “your love”. Thanks for singing so sweetly Victoria.

String Fling at the Rio December 13th

Friends,

I’m quite excited to be playing a show with the Four on the Floor string quartet and a host of Vancouver talents in one of my favourite venues. On December 13th Four on the Floor is putting on “String Fling” a very classy showcase where they will be supporting 5 absolutely stellar Vancouver acts including Data Romance, Shaun Verreault and Peak Performance finalists the Gay Nineties, Ali Milner and myself.

Tickets are $15 in advance at Red Cat Records, Zulu and online at www.hipcitymusic.ca. That’s a whole $5 off the door value so get them before they’re gone.

If you don’t remember Four on the Floor, perhaps this little video will remind you of their virtuosity.

xo
