The Art of Drunk Dialling

I just had a brief stint of shows on Vancouver Island accompanied by my good friend Will. While there I decided this was the perfect occasion to get some work done. “Work” being the operative word when it came to drinking a bit too much and calling pledgers who had ordered a drunk-dial.

Unfortunately for us we didn’t manage to reach any of the pledgers directly. We did have some great conversations with their voice mail mind you. We also managed to get some video evidence of our efforts. To witness the tomfoolery for yourself, please check out my latest video update.

Dom

PS we also decided that with 15 days left to make our campaign goal it was a good opportunity to put 3 more drunk-dials up for grabs because they were so popular. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

CBC Searchlight Contest – Cast Your Vote

2013_DF_OLS_CDCover_NEW
I feel like I’ve waited long enough since I was involved in any kind of internet contest in which I had to harass you all for votes. Some may argue that never would be too soon. I empathize with you.

That being said, I’ve entered “Our last song” in the CBC Searchlight Contest and would love your support. Lots of great Canadian talent. Help out a developing artist by casting your vote. Success in this contest would be a huge leg up for anybody.

To cast your vote for my song click this link and find the tab that says “Vote for this artist”:

Music Therapy Month is Here!

20140301_iPod-Pharmacy-Ontario
Music Therapy Month is March and it is here! Music Heals partnered with Blenz as an official iPod Pharmacy depot in British Columbia. For every iPod donation you make you’ll receive a free $5 gift card.

In Toronto we partnered with Vortex Records and Twelfth Fret Guitar Shop. The online zine Toronto is Awesome helped out by letting me post a guest blog on the topic of Music Therapy Month and the iPod Pharmacy. If you’d like to read or share it you can find it here.

Please lend a hand by helping us spread the word about music therapy month, the iPod Pharmacy and Music Heals.ca.

Thx

Screen shot 2014-02-18 at 7.14.59 AM

Hello friends!

I’m extremely excited to report that two businesses here in Toronto will be joining the iPod Pharmacy campaign for Music Therapy Month as official depots. If you have an old functioning iPod or mp3 playing device that you don’t use any more and would like to donate to be repurposed in local Music Therapy practices, you can now donate them to the Music Heals iPod Pharmacy in Toronto.

From now until the end of March  the Twelfth Fret Guitar Shop (2132 Danforth Ave) and Vortex Records (2309 Yonge St) will both accept your mp3 device donations. All donations will be repurposed as tools for local Music Therapists in their practices.

If you have a device that you’d like to donate please visit the Twelfth Fret or Vortex Records. If you have any questions or would like to know how you could get involved in the iPod Pharmacy or if you’d like to make your business a depot, please respond to this post or contact me at dfricot@gmail.com.

In Flight Medley with Leighton Bain

While playing shows in Southern Ontario this weekend, I was reunited with an old soul-brother of mine Leighton Bain. Leighton and I used to tour around playing shows together when I was still in my old band the Painted Birds. When the band broke up Leighton and I remained friends and have always been huge supporters of each other’s work.

Having some free time outside of our gigs in Chatham and Windsor we figured we should shoot some kind of video together. After going through a myriad of songs we came up with a little medley of songs about flight. You’ll likely recognize the first and last one. The middle one happens to be the title track off of Leighton’s latest record “Planes”. I’ve posted the video for that song below.
